The Stars is a new comic mini-series being put out through indy-publisher Earthbound Comics which I had the opportunity to work on as the letterer. It was written and penciled by Kurt Belcher, inked by Stuart Berryhill and colored by Lisa Sky – an all around awesome collection of creators.

It’s a unique take on super-heroes,  showing how costumed heroes are viewed as super-celebrities as much as crime-fighters, set in a world filled with shadowy intrigue and threats both seen and unseen.

I freely admit to being a huge fan of the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies, especially the first one. It’s one of those films I’ve seen so many times I can practically quote the whole thing, and is one of my wife’s favorites as well.

Am thinking about doing some fan-art for fun – here’s some sketches from my sketchbook, just trying to figure out the characters in my style.

We had a good turn-out and Josh was busy the whole time, signing and sketching. Thanks to Matt and the gang at Lightning Comics for having us out and taking care of us while we were there!

He’ll be signing copies of that book, and we’ll also have copies of the new Guild Anthology Vol. 2 available for sale, which Josh did the awesome cover for as well.

We’ll also be having our monthly Guild meeting the following day (Sunday the 18th), at the Argonne Library meeting room at 2 pm.
